It is a pragmatic account of the fundamental principles of achieving success by self-help and is the distilled essence of my years of research and understanding of the dynamics of success. This practical manual serves as a step-by-step guide to climb the ladder of success. It gives both an in-depth view and a time-tested approach to succeed and chronicles 14 golden principles of achieving success. The principles are wide-ranging and apply to success in any sphere of life. My own life has been transformed by the principles enshrined in this book. Therefore, I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be successful in life and seeks happiness. Review of “Spoilt for Choice” by Poornansh Shrivastava

Title : Spoilt for choice

Author : Poornansh Shrivastava

No.of pages : 185

Price : Rs. 199/-

Publishers : Half baked beans

Blurb :

200 Riders participate in motorcycle racing every season and from 15 finalists only one becomes the champion. What kind of people are these who race without seeking any fame just to fulfill their passion? Not normal person for sure. Every rider has their own story and some become love stories. This story is about a small town boy, Samarth, who fell in love with a girl named Sanchi. He was passionate about sports, she wasn’t. She wanted love from him, he was spoilt for choice. Long distance relationship needs trust and understanding but he needed some time to understand these things. He chose his passion and she also made her choice. Can a person do whatever he/she is passionate about? Can a person move on from relationships to follow his/her dream?

Review :

This book is all about the life story of a common middle class born man – Samarth Shrivastava who aims to become a doctor and also follows racing as his passion. The book further unfolds how he managed to overcome all the struggles he faced throughout his journey to accomplish his goals.

Spoilt for choice – The book opens up with Samarth writing a suicide letter and further the story travels to his past to explain what made Samarth to take such a drastic step.

Loaded with innumerable dreams, Samarth falls in love with his classmate Sanchi and they make plans for their future when destiny distances them for higher education. Samarth joins dentistry at Rajnandgoan whereas Sanchi joins in Chennai. But slowly the physical distance starts to drift them apart even though Samarth was head over heels in love with Sanchi. Also Samarth gets a sponsorship offer from Chennai for his racing career and he flies to Chennai when he faces the reality that Sanchi is no more in love with him and she is now committed to Rajeev. Eventually, after knowing all this, he fails in his race and also in his exams. Further the story is built on how Samarth overcame all the struggles and pain in his life and showcases how he achieved his dreams.

Spoilt for choice – a motivational book to inspire the readers to run towards their aim. The author has weaved the story well and his words showcase the emotions he endured. The first person narration makes the book more relatable to one’s ownself. This book makes us believe that it’s never too late to run for our dreams. Also it says no one is permanent in our life. The words are simple and the language is lucid which makes the reading comfortable. But at some chapters, the story misses it’s coherence. The book is divided into many levels which makes it a quick read. The presentation could have been better. The racing events were explained with utmost Perfection which almost makes us racers. This book is a combination of all concepts we expect in a book spiced up with love, dreams, hopes, disappointment, responsibilities etc.

Positives :

A real inspirational story.

This book injects us with a positive hope that nothing is impossible.

Showcased the real struggles which every person undergoes in their pursuit of fulfilling their passion and ambition.

The cover page and the title is more attractive and can easily grab readers attention.

Negatives :

The character of Sugandha was not very well explained and also it was left in the middle without proper completion.

Samarth’s dad’s bank issue was also left without any explanation.

At a point, the author makes us to feel why should Samarth love Sanchi to this extent even if she is not interested to reciprocate it.

Verdict :

To find a real inspiration and motivation, go for it.
